In brief: BRP, Peters & May, Cigarette Racing Team, Frank Butler

BRP has earned a red dot award in the product design category for its 2010 Sea-Doo 210 Challenger SE sport boat, according to a release from the company. This is BRP’s seventh red dot award since 2005. The red dot design award is awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Since 1955 the red dot awards honor outstanding design quality and trendsetters in the fields of product design, communication design, and design concepts. This year 1,636 companies from 57 countries for a total of 4,252 entries submitted their projects to the jury.

Peters & May will serve as preferred freight forwarder for the Larson brands including Larson, FinCraft, Seaswirl and Triumph boats, according to a release from Peters & May. The three-year contract complements the existing relationship between Peters & May UK and the Carver and Marquis Yacht Group, companies affiliated with Larson Boats LLC.
“Peters & May has been responsible and professional in the transition of our companies,” Nino Dreger, International Sales Representative for Larson Boats, said in the release. “We had a good relationship with them in our previous company and we plan to carry that forward with Larson.”

Vic Spellberg has joined Cigarette Racing Team as director of sales and promotion, according to a release from Cigarette. Spellberg will work with both retail customers and dealers while promoting brand awareness through Cigarette’s corporate marketing activities. During his 12-year racing career, Spellberg earned a number of titles including back-to-back Southeast Divisional Championships in 1985-86.

Blue Water Sailing, Cruising World and Sail magazine are hosting a gala celebration in honor of Frank Butler of Catalina Yachts, an industry veteran who guesses he’s manufactured more than 75,000 vessels during his career. The banquet will be held on Friday, Oct. 8, at 7:00 p.m. in the main ballroom of Loews Hotel in Annapolis, Maryland. Individual reservations are available at $75 per person. Items are being sought for a silent auction.
