Mallory Marine completes new bellows project
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Mallory Marine has completed a two-year R&D project centered around the development of new tooling and rubber compounds for its existing replacement bellows, according to a release from the company. The project was designed to improve the performance and durability of replacement bellows for MerCruiser, OMC, and Volvo Penta applications.
“This project originated as a result of a production batch of bellows, supplied by what had previously been a reliable partner, that did not meet our standards of quality,” Jim Self, director of Mallory Marine, said in a release. “We started to see some unusual problems in the field and when we couldn’t get a satisfactory resolution, we decided it was time to invest and take complete control in the manufacturing of these critical parts.”
The company says after two years of working with some of the world’s leading experts in rubber compounding and a “substantial six figure investment” in tooling, it has a product the company is very proud of.
“There are several key advantages for our new parts,” Self said. “Our testing has shown we have better tensile strength in our rubber, better UV and Ozone resistance, and improved pliability for easier installation. We have been shipping these new bellows for several months now and the customer feedback has been fantastic. These products are available for immediate shipment.”
