LIVONIA, Mich. – A new boating and outdoor recreation festival will be held this September in Mt. Clemens, Mich., and feature an in-water boat show with boats on shore and in the water, as well as many other outdoor recreation exhibits, organizers reported in a release yesterday.
The 1st Annual Boating & Outdoor Recreation Festival is scheduled for Sept. 22–26 at Metro Beach Metropark in Mt. Clemens, Mich. It is owned and produced by the Michigan Boating Industries Association.
“The festival mission is to provide inspiration and education for individuals and families to encourage outdoor recreation,” said MBIA President Van Snider. “Any group that will benefit from getting more people up off the couch and outside to enjoy healthy, family recreation should be partnering with this event. Boating and outdoor recreation offers health and well-being benefits and is easy, affordable and right in our own back yard.”
Retailers, manufacturers, service providers, governmental agencies, user groups, other event promoters and non-profits will be invited to participate, organizers said. Boats, equipment, supplies and services will be on display and for sale.
The festival plans to represent all types of boating including canoeing and kayaking, as well as hiking, biking, camping, fishing, skiing, golfing, rafting, horseback riding, bird watching, rock climbing, Geocaching, running, wind surfing, skateboarding, rollerblading, ice boat racing, health and fitness and more.
