SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Yachtfest has canceled its annual boutique September boat show but plans to resume the event in the future, according to a release from organizers.
“Although this was a difficult decision to make, we are very excited about our new directions, incorporation of the San Diego community at large and outreach to the national and international superyacht communities as well,” Doug Sharp, Yachtfest board chair and president of Sharp Design, said in the release.
Sharp said organizers are planning changes to the event.
“We mean to take a complete fresh look at how we fit into the superyacht business paradigm and add an injection of new energy to Yachtfest for the future,” he said.
Judy Donnelly, president of San Diego Marine Exchange and Yachtfest’s major sponsor, echoed Sharp’s comments.
“After a decade of a great show,” she said, “we will start the new decade with a fresh new look, we are looking forward to it.”
