A new on-line resource for those looking to buy or sell pre-owned high-performance boats is being offered by high-performance boat dealer Shogren Performance Marine. Usedoffshoreboats.com, which launches this month, is a consumer and dealer classified advertising service. The format, which categorizes boats by brand and model, is designed to make it easy for buyers to find the type of performance boat they seek. Usedoffshoreboats.com will focus solely on sales. “There is a real need for a professional, brand-specific site for offshore boaters, dealers and manufacturers alike to sell new/used boats on their own,” said Scott Shogren of Shogren Performance Marine. “We understand the performance marine industry and have talked with hundreds of customers and boat builders to develop a format specifically designed for them. The aim is for usedoffshoreboats.com to become the first stop for individuals looking to buy or sell a used performance boat.”
For the fifth year, Nautique boats will sponsor the Tavistock Cup Golf Tournament at Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Fla., on March 22 and 23. This invite-only, two day-event is a unique team competition that brings together cross-town rivals to determine the World Golf and Country Club Champion. Any player that makes a hole-in-one on the eleventh hole will win a 2011 Ski Nautique 200 for him/her and their teammates. Nautique will host an on-the-water test drive center located at the marina next to the Isleworth Country Club. All participants and spectators are encouraged to test drive the 2010 Nautique line of boats. Nautique will showcase 16 of its 2010 product throughout the grounds of Isleworth during the event. Nautique will also donate a 2009 Crossover Nautique 216V Team Edition for the Gala dinner raffle with all proceeds benefiting the Tavistock Foundation. The foundation has donated millions of dollars to charities such as The First Tee and the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando.
Catamaran Cruisers is the first in the marine sector to adopt AOC’s new Eco-Tek styrene-free technology. The houseboat builder uses the hand lay-up and spray-up processes to manufacture cabins, hulls, bulkheads, galley sinks, slides, gates, rails and other features of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite. In a composite resin formulation, styrene serves as a diluent for wetting out reinforcing fibers and as a reactive monomer that helps transform the resin into a molecularly-crosslinked polymer. EcoTek H164 polyester has a formulation that replaces styrene with diluent monomers with lower volatility and fewer emissions. “A primary reason for switching to the EcoTek resin is to create a healthier and safer work environment for our employees,” said company President Dirk Wiley. “Workplace exposure to volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions is significantly reduced. Reduced emissions are also better for the environment and make our product more attractive to customers looking to make greener buying decisions.”
