Cigarette Racing increases workforce
OPA LOCKA, Fla. — Cigarette Racing Team recently added 19 staff members, including boat construction workers brought back after last year’s lay-offs and some are new hires, according to a release from the company.
President and CEO Skip Braver said Cigarette’s factory is currently working in “high gear.”
“We have seen the need to keep our factory running and producing, anticipating the pent-up demand we now have for our custom-built boats,” Braver reported in the release. “Though we saw some softening of the market last year, we stayed ‘lean and mean’ and we’re now in an accelerated mode. Our boat workers are a very special group — they have distinct skills that are hard to find and we’re glad to welcome them back.”
Braver also reported that the company will nearly double the size of its display at this year’s Miami International Boat Show, compared to 2008.
“The Miami show holds much tradition for Cigarette,” Braver said in the release, “and we will be prepared with new boats and innovation for our customers.”
