Fuel sales up at Channel Marine
WEIRS BEACH, N.H. — Gasoline sales increased 40 percent in 2008 and another 30 percent in 2009 at Channel Marine in New Hampshire, according to a release from ValvTect, which supplies gasoline to the marina.
“We had to deal with the greatest business challenges ever in 2008 and 2009,” Channel Marine President Vin Mullarkey said in the release. “To survive we had to focus on each area of our business to generate more income. One of these areas was fuel sales.”
Mullarkey said concerns about ethanol helped set his business apart.
“It was perfect timing to brand ValvTect, since ethanol was being introduced in our area and boaters were very concerned about potential problems,” said Mullarkey. “ValvTect Marine Gasoline, which contains ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment, enabled our customers to prevent ethanol-related issues.”
Mullarkey said aggressively promoting the product and keeping prices competitive led to the rise in sales.
