Gibson Fiberglass raises prices

IRWINDALE, Calif. — Gibson Fiberglass has announced a price increase of 15-18 percent per pound for all fiberglass direct and multi-end roving products as well as chopped strand BMC / Thermoplastic, chopped strand mat, woven roving, and all other roll goods.

The increase applies to all shipments delivered on or after Jan. 1, the company said in a release.

“The recent recession has been a burden on the entire composites industry, but fiberglass manufacturers have been particularly hard hit. Our energy costs, manufacturing costs, raw material costs, and logistics costs have not dropped significantly during this period,” Joe Peng, president of Gibson Fiberglass, said in the release. “This increase is necessary to help cover the costs increases we are experiencing in these areas.”

Gibson Enterprises, headquartered in Irwindale, supplies fiberglass reinforcements and fabrics to the reinforced plastics industry.
