BWI panel to feature online success stories

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Boating Writers International will host a “Newsmaker” session during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show that will focus on online success stories, according to a release from the group. The session will be held after a brief general meeting at 8 a.m. on Oct. 30 at the Bahia Mar Hotel.

Panelists include Rich Lazzara, vice president of Lazzara International Yachts, who created www.richlazzara.com and has 1,100 followers on Twitter; Kim Kavin, who blogs at KimKavin.com and CharterWave.com; and Glenn Justice, who left The New York Times in 2006 to start MadMariner.com, the daily online boating magazine where he currently serves as editor.

During the meeting, BWI will also present the S/Y Legacy Writer’s Award for “the best in boating journalism” and its $5,000 prize, plus details about the 2009 BWI Annual Writing Contest. The event is free and open to the marine community.
