After an external ISO 9001 surveillance audit, Volvo Penta of the Americas had its current certification elevated to the latest revision, ISO 9001:2008. The audit conducted by Art Phillips with Lloyds Register Quality Assurance, Ltd. uncovered no findings, major or minor. “We were told it is somewhat unusual for the 2008 certification to be achieved on the first assessment, which was the case,” said Clint Moore, president and CEO. “During these difficult times, where we have all been forced to downsize our organizations, it is more important than ever that we maintain a steadfast commitment to our Business Management Systems.” Along with the ISO 9001:2008 Quality certification, the Chesapeake headquarters is also environmentally certified to ISO 14001:2004. Volvo Penta’s Marine Products facility in Lexington, Tenn., holds these certifications as well and is also OSHA 18001:2007 certified for Health and Safety.
