WARREN, R.I. — The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), has released its latest 18-month training and events catalog, it reported in a recent statement.
The 2009–2010 catalog features dates and descriptions for IMI’s newly launched “Marina Operator Course” and required credentials for the new “Certified Marina Operator (CMO)” designation. Also included in the catalog are the “Intermediate Marina Management” and “Advanced Marina Management” programs as well as such upcoming IMI events in 2010 as the 9th annual Drystack Conference and the International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC).
IMI’s new Marina Operator Course is designed specifically for marina managers working in smaller facilities or those who manage one segment of a large facility. Marina managers who successfully complete the Marina Operator Course and the Intermediate marina Management Course are eligible to apply for IMI’s Certified Marina Operator designation.
Other courses listed in the catalog are the Intermediate Marina Management — a prerequisite to become a CMO — and the Advanced Marina Management (AMM) courses, which qualify participants to apply for the “Certified Marina Manager,” or CMM program. The IMM and AMM are offered globally for a total of seven and four times, respectively, over the next 18 months.
Finally, the IMI 18-month training and events catalog lists several other events: the International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Tampa, Fla., Jan. 27–29, 2010; and the 9th annual Drystack Conference, Oct. 24–26, 2010, which dovetails into the Southeast Florida Marina Study Tour — a moving classroom that takes participants on tours of South Florida marinas and boatyards just a few days ahead of the 2010 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
