Boat builders, dealers attend Sea Ray auction

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Boat dealers and small-business owners picked through hundreds of surplus items being auctioned by Sea Ray on Wednesday, the Knoxville News Sentinel reports.

Dan Chips, director of processing facilities engineering for Sea Ray and organizer of the auction, told the paper the equipment is mostly surplus goods from a Brunswick Boat Group downsizing of its logistics division.

“We used to have our own trucking company, and now we don’t,” Chips told the News Sentinel.

Chips organized an auction to get rid of the trucks and other equipment, and Sea Ray decided to join in with surplus equipment from its facilities around the country.
