Mercury, union continue negotiations

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Mercury Marine talked with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers for about seven hours Tuesday, resolving some agenda items and remaining on track to meet the target of finalizing negotiations by Monday, according to a release from Mercury this morning.

Negotiations are scheduled resume at 10 a.m. today, and will continue Thursday and Friday if necessary. Both sides have agreed they would like to finish negotiations by Monday, Mercury reported.

If an agreement is reached, union members would then vote on ratification within the following two weeks. A decision by Mercury regarding its next step will be determined in part by the union’s response to any tentative agreement, the company stated.

Mercury said a possible outcome of the negotiations still includes consolidation of operations in Fond du Lac or Stillwater, Okla.
