BROOKLIN, Maine — Valerie Ziebron, president of VRZ Consulting and an instructor for Yamaha University, will be the featured speaker at the upcoming Conference on Marine Industry Technical Training (COMITT), according to a recent release from the Marine Industry Technical Education Council (MITEC).
The conference will be held as part of the International Boatbuilders Exposition and Conference (IBEX) on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Ziebron will present two different workshops. The morning session is titled “Worker Competence: Being Effective at Your Work Tasks.” According to MITEC, it will be an interactive event where participants will learn about a variety of productivity and training tools designed to bring out the best in any team.
The afternoon session is called “Enhancing Your Marine Human Resources for Customer Satisfaction and Profitability.” It is designed to help participants learn how to gain high profitability and customer loyalty during the current economic crisis.
Ziebron got her start in the automotive industry and then expanded into technology, computer, retail, marine and real estate. Her clients have included DaimlerChrysler, General Motors, Shelby American, Yamaha, Eastman Kodak, IPIX, Ruritan, CorrectCraft, and others. She has delivered more than 3,000 presentations domestically and internationally and has worked with more than 500 dealerships to create training courses available in both live and video format.
“We are delighted to have Valerie set the tone for COMITT 2009,” COMITT Committee Chair Barbara-Jean Walsh said in the release. “She gave stellar presentations last year in two of our seminars, and she is no stranger to the marine industry. We are all looking forward to her dynamic and engaging workshops at COMITT, and we know she will pack them with essential information for marine industry employers, trainers, and educators.”
In addition to Ziebron’s two workshops, the conference includes an onsite luncheon, as well as an evening of socializing and networking at Shake-A-Leg Miami’s waterfront facility in Coconut Grove.
For more information and to register for COMITT, go to ibexshow.com. A full-day conference registration fee is $125 and includes the opening and closing sessions, as well as the annual luncheon. For those interested in attending only the morning or afternoon session, an individual workshop conference registration option is available for $75.
