Brunswick awards 26 college scholarships to dealers’ families

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Brunswick Corp. recently awarded 26 sons and daughters of dealership owners and employees a total of $52,000 in college scholarships, according to a release this week from Brunswick.

The awards, given through the Brunswick Corp. Dealer Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program, recognize academic excellence, leadership capabilities and civic involvement during the past school year, the company said. Recipients are chosen by an independent committee of academic professionals at three Midwestern universities.

The Brunswick Dealer Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program is part of Brunswick Dealer Advantage, now in its third year. The program offers services designed to help the dealers attract more retail customers, reward employees or improve operations, with the number of programs a dealer can access based on the strength of the dealer’s partnership with Brunswick, according to the company. Opportunities for scholarships are offered to Gold and Platinum-level dealers.

“I take my hat off to Brunswick for keeping the scholarship program, despite budget cuts,” said Ed McCarthy, the owner of McCarthy Marine and Sales in Brielle, N.J., and father of scholarship winner Annie McCarthy. “It really says a lot about a company when it cares that much about their dealers to help their children pursue a college education.”
