WILMINGTON, N.C. – In an effort to assist displaced marine industry personnel, while keep costs down for employers, Careerboat.com is offering free job postings beginning today and running through Friday, Aug. 7, it reported in a recent e-mail.
In addition, Brooks Marine Group, the parent company of Careerboat.com, has created a program called Careerboat Assist, tailored to helping displaced workers in identifying and securing a new position in the marine industry. Its career counselors will work with displaced workers, one-on-one, in areas including resume formatting, using today’s technologies to identify job openings, how to proactively market yourself, interviewing prep, compensation negotiation and retooling skills for tomorrow’s opportunities. More information on these 30-minute to one-hour sessions are available by e-mailing the company at jobs@careerboat.com and putting Careerboat Assist in the subject line.
“As we talk to our colleagues across the industry, we’re beginning to see signs of an up-tick,” the company said in a statement. “The service and marina sectors remain relatively healthy, as do new technologies/electronics. High volume OEM boatbuilders and their suppliers have embraced lean strategies that are paying off. Dealerships have come up with creative programs to unload existing inventories. We remain optimistic that the marine industry will recover soon, yet we’ll be here to assist as we all navigate through these difficult times.”
