Great Lakes boat builder plans to open more showrooms

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Lakeland Boatworks, Inc., a Great Lakes producer of recreational watercraft, opened its flagship showroom at 499 S Warren St. in downtown Syracuse, New York on May 6. After a little over two months, the company will post a profit for both its operation in Syracuse and the manufacturing facility in Middleville, Mich. in July, the company reported in a recent statement.

“We believe that we can sustain this profitable trend with our current business model,” stated Joe Rahn, Lakeland’s founder and president.

The Syracuse operation consists of 4,400 square feet of showroom space and 1,200 square feet of storage space on the first floor of a nine story office building at the corner of Warren and Onondaga Streets.

With the positive response to the first Lakeland Boatworks, Inc. showroom outside of its manufacturing facility in Michigan, principles of the company are planning to locate additional showrooms in other Great Lakes states in the next three years.

In addition to producing eight company designed recreational watercraft, the firm provides water sports equipment, marine gifts, engine maintenance and repair and wooden boat restoration services.
