RACINE, Wis. — Johnson Outdoors Inc., a manufacturer of outdoor recreation products, will close its plant in Ferndale, Wash., eliminating 90 jobs, according to a report from the Associated Press.
The company said it will consolidate operations for its paddle sport brands in Old Town, Maine, by the end of September.
“Johnson Outdoors currently maintains two sites in Old Town, but will merge all operations into one location after it finishes converting its modern distribution and warehouse center later this year,” the AP reports.
A century-old mill site will be vacated, but the company is evaluating future-use options for the site. Johnson Outdoors said the move is expected to save $4 million beginning in fiscal 2010, according to the AP.
