Online boater education course launched in 37 states

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A new interactive boater education course was recently made available in 37 states as an online option to meet mandatory boater education requirements, according to a release from BoaterExam.com.

The company says its course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, recognized by the US Coast Guard and covers 100 percent of exam requirements in 37 states across the country.

“We are extremely excited about this new course process,” Kerry Moher, vice president of BoaterExam.com, said in the release. “The study guide has more than 150 animations and practice quizzes that will better prepare students to successfully complete the final exam.”

The course covers boat classifications, hull designs, motors, legal requirements for registration and equipment, navigation rules, basic safety regulations and waterway marking systems. It includes seven chapters followed by chapter summaries and practice quizzes.

BoaterExam.com courses and final exams are typically free. In some cases, students have the option to pay a one-time fee (ranging from $29.95 to $39.95) to obtain their official results.

According to BoaterExam.com, 47 states/territories have some type of mandatory boater-education requirement and most allow online courses to meet mandatory education requirements.
