Classic boat builder shuts down
HOLLAND, Mich. — Classic wooden boat builder Grand Craft Corp. has shut down operations, according to a report from The Associated Press.
The 30-year-old company specialized in handcrafted mahogany runabouts reminiscent of classic designs from the ’20s and ’30s. Famous customers included Jennifer Lopez, Tim Allen, Kid Rock and Robert Redford, according to the report.
The company employed about 20 people and its plant first shut down in December, leaving about eight boats unfinished, the AP said.
Owner Tim Masek said he hopes to sell Grand Craft to another company.
