North River Boats sued for unpaid $500,000 gold card bill
ROSEBURG, Ore. — American Express is suing Southern Oregon boat company North River Boats and its owner for nearly $500,000 in charges on the company gold card, according to a report from the Associated Press. The suit filed Tuesday names North River Boats Inc. and owner Brian Brush.
American Express said it also wants 9 percent interest accruing since May 5 and recovery expenses, according to the report.
In April, the FBI said it suspected the North River of illegally inflating its inventory to obtain millions in financing from Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo closed North River’s working line of credit in February, and shortly afterward, the company closed its four retail stores.
Later its production plant closed, leaving about 100 workers without jobs.
According to the AP, the plant reopened May 1 with 40 people, with plans to build for government and commercial customers.
