RBFF promotes National Fishing & Boating Week with new online game, prizes

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — For the 30th Anniversary of National Fishing & Boating Week, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation has created a new interactive game, “Catch A Boat,” which gives visitors a chance to win prizes including a new boat, motor and trailer, according to RBFF. National Fishing & Boating Week, which is June 6-14 this year, has been handled by RBFF since 2001.

The game lets visitors virtually fish for a chance to win daily prizes from one of RBFF’s sponsors — Dick’s Sporting Goods, Humminbird, Plano, Rapala, Simms, West Marine and Zebco — or the grand prize of a Triumph boat with an Evinrude motor and EZ Loader trailer, RBFF said in a release.

The game can be found on TakeMeFishing.org, a site dedicated to RBFF’s mission to increase participation in recreational angling and boating. Other features on the site include an interactive “Boat Explorer” tool, a glossary, and navigation and trip planning resources.

The contest will go live on June 4 and run for seven weeks. Official rules are available at TakeMeFishing.org

“Catch A Boat is designed to help RBFF meet multiple goals including increased traffic to our Web site and a boost in the number of Anglers’ Legacy Ambassadors and Discover Boating DVD requests,” RBFF President Frank Peterson said in the release. “We hope our stakeholders will leverage the national Take Me Fishing campaign, which is now in full swing, to help inspire participation among their members and customers.”

RBFF re-launched its Take Me Fishing campaign Web site in April 2008, and in its first year online, TakeMeFishing.org received 2.4 million unique visitors, according to the group.
