Yacht Path expands services to the Eastern Mediterranean

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Yacht Path Marine Group, a global yacht transport company, has added a new route of service from North America to cruising destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean, it reported in a recent statement.

“Due to the increasing number of yacht exports from the U.S. to other regions across the globe, we have put in place additional routes of service to satisfy the need for transport of these yachts to their final destinations,” said Yacht Path Business Development Director Krista Kersey. “Since spring 2008, Yacht Path has offered regular service covering West and Central Mediterranean, including the Adriatic, and recently added additional service to the Eastern Mediterranean. Yacht Path’s first sailing to the Eastern Mediterranean from North America took place in early April 2009, departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S. to Saint Thomas, USVI; Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Genoa, Italy; and Marmaris, Turkey.”

Sales of new and used boats to U.S.-based owners are down because of the struggling economy, causing an increase in inventory and a reduction in prices, the company stated.

“We are seeing that the majority of yachts being shipped are going to buyers in Europe, where a currency exchange rate in favor of the euro has boosted their buying power of American yachts,” Kersey added. “This buying trend, along with those bound for seasonal cruising grounds, initiated the additional routes to and from North America to the Eastern Mediterranean, calling ports in Greece, Turkey and Croatia.”
