BRP reports success with new dealer meeting format

STURTEVANT, Wis. – Since announcing its Evinrude brand’s regional Town Hall-style dealer meetings two months ago, attendance has increased nearly 30 percent, compared to last year, parent company BRP reported in a statement yesterday.

Evinrude went to a regional meeting format in model year 2008 “to ease the strain on dealers that sometimes occurs with two-three day, off-site meetings and to better communicate on a one-on-one basis with dealers,” it stated. The company explained that it selects key markets based on dealership concentration throughout the U.S.

At a Town Hall meeting, dealers hear from BRP executives and product specialists about new buying programs for the year, new products, and advertising and promotional activities planned for the year, according to the company. Dealers who attend the four-hour Town Hall Meeting in their market will also be the first to receive special early order incentives for model year 2010, according to BRP. This year, Town Hall meetings are being held in 13 markets from Seattle to Boston and run from May 4 to May 14.

“We feel the increase in participation this year is partly due to the current state of the industry,” declared Roch Lambert, vice president – general manager, Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Evinrude division for BRP. “Dealers want to hear first-hand what manufacturers are doing to help weather the storm. Product and programs are vital to the success of our dealers right now and we want to be sure everything is communicated and well received.”
