NY Boat Show returns to traditional January time frame
CHICAGO, Ill. — The New York Boat Show is moving back into its traditional time frame from the holiday dates it had recently occupied, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reported in a release Thursday.
The 105th annual show will be cut from nine days to five and take place Jan. 20-24 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Last year the show was held Dec. 13-21.
From 2003 to 2009, customers often missed the show due to holiday travel schedules and festivities, according to the NMMA.
“NMMA has worked persistently over the last seven years to get the New York Show dates changed and avoid the challenging holiday timing,” Linda Waddell, vice president of NMMA northern shows, said in the release. “We’re extremely optimistic about the opportunities now available to our exhibitors by making the show more available to regional boating enthusiasts and residents of New York City — this is truly a brand new day for the New York Boat Show.”
The New York Marine Trades Association and its boat dealer members throughout the New York region played a crucial role in securing the new dates, aggressively petitioning legislators and other key decision-makers on the importance of the late-January timing, NMMA reports.
Jonathan Pritko has been appointed show manager. Pritko also manages NMMA’s Atlantic City International Power Boat Show and Norwalk International In-Water Boat Show.
