North River Boats closes plant

ROSEBURG, Ore. — North River Boats recently closed the doors of its manufacturing plant in Green, leaving about 100 workers without jobs, according to a report in Roseburg’s News-Review.

Employees were told the plant was “going to be shut down until further notice” but were not given a reason for the plant’s closure, the report stated.

Earlier this month, the FBI served a search warrant at the Green facility and seized copies of records and computer files.

North River Marine — the retail side of North River Boats — is being accused of illegally inflating its inventory to obtain millions in financing from Wells Fargo Bank, according to the search warrant affidavit. The paper reports that because of the alleged fraud, Wells Fargo closed North River Marine’s working line of credit in February, and shortly afterward, North River Marine closed its four retail stores.

North River Boats has been operating in the Roseburg area since 1974.
