ABYC, MMTA partner to offer regional training

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The American Boat & Yacht Council and the Maine Marine Trades Association will offer a series of ABYC Certification courses at the Marine Systems Training Center in Thomaston, Maine, the groups reported in a release this week.

The MMTA said that by sponsoring the courses, it can offer reduced prices for state marine professionals, while addressing the need for regional training.

“The MSTC has been offering courses in a wide range of marine systems for over a year now and our classes are clearly filling a void by offering much needed trainings in a very accessible location,” said Minda McVetty, director of the Marine Systems Training Center.

Last month, the MMTA sponsored the ABYC Diesel Engine & Support Systems Certification. The following courses have been scheduled thus far for the rest of the year.

Sept. 8 – 11: Marine Corrosion Certification
Nov. 3 – 5: Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification
Dec. 1 – 4: Marine Systems Certification
