Lake Havasu City boat builder closes
LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. — Power Marine and Motor Sports, the Lake Havasu City boat manufacturer behind Magic Powerboats and Sleek Powerboats, has closed, according to a report in the Today’s News-Herald newspaper. The paper said it was unknown exactly why the 15-year-old business was shutting down.
“We are not bankrupt, we are just closing our doors. …It is very hard,” owner Ron Moyes told the paper.
Moyes would not comment further on the reasons the company shut down, the News-Herald reported.
The paper said the company started downsizing staff in September, and approximately 20 employees were affected by the closure. Moyes is the immediate past president and one of the founders of the Lake Havasu City Marine Association.
