Harborage Yacht Club to host National Marina Day kick-off event

WARREN, R.I. – Harborage Yacht Club and Marina, Stuart, Fla., will be the site of this year’s National Marina Day kick-off event on Aug. 8, the Association of Marina Industries reported in a recent statement.

New this year, AMI, which manages National Marina Day, will now always designate the recipient of the prior year’s Marina of the Year award as the kick-off site. This is not only a reward for the winning marina, buy they will gain from the added publicity that comes from being home to the National Marina Day signature event, according to AMI.

On National Marina Day, now in its 9th year, AMI asks marinas to invite the public and politicians to their facilities to showcase the important contributions marinas make in the community, and demonstrate the positive influence the marine industry can have on our environment.

Harborage Yacht Club and Marina is already planning their event to be bigger and better than last year, AMI reported. Previously, they held an all day event that included tours of their facility, an in-water boat show, and dozens of land displays by area boat builders, yacht brokers and other marine-related organizations and businesses.

“Our basic event framework, which includes local marine trades, associated groups and not-for-profits, combined with political, public and media outreach will remain intact,” said Gary Guertin, manager at Harborage. “Our National Marina Day team is already brainstorming new ideas and concepts to bring this year’s celebration to the next level. As ‘ground zero’ for this year’s National Marina Day, Harborage Yacht Club and Marina looks forward to placing the City of Stuart, Fla., in the national limelight, and we look forward to educating others across the United States on the significant role marinas play in their communities.”

Harborage Yacht Club and Marina is located on the St. Lucie River offering direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway, Lake Okeechobee and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a full-service facility with 300 slips and a three-story yacht club.
