Correct Craft serves community during downturn

ORLANDO, Fla. — On February 12 and March 5, Correct Craft provided more than 100 volunteers to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida as part of an eight-week project to keep employees busy in the midst of a slowing economy, according to a Coalition blog entry.

The company’s plan had employees building boats two days a week and receiving training two days a week, according to the Coalition. Employees received decreased wages on training days, the Coalition reported, but the program prevented dozens of layoffs.

Two of the training days were devoted to community service, which were spent at the Coalition completing painting hallways and lobbies, landscaping and stuffing hundreds of envelopes.

“The best part was that they did it with all the effort they would normally give a full-day’s work,” according to the Coalition, “they gave it their all.”
