Opacmare starts production at Canadian facility

CARDIGAN, Prince Edward Island — Italian shipyard supplier Opacmare has started production at its new 87,000 square-foot Prince Edward Island manufacturing facility, the company said in a recent release. The facility will produce stainless steel and aluminum components for yachts and superyachts.

The company said the Canadian production site would put them closer to American customers and cut down on delivery times and production costs.

“The site, when running at full regime, is expected to parallel production at the Rivalta facility in Italy,” said CEO Roberto Sacco in the release, “producing the full range of nautical accessories in steel and aluminium (doors, davits, gangways, swim ladders, hatchways, stern platforms and other smaller components) becoming a valid support for the American market’s growth.”

The facility has begun production of components for cranes, gangways and tender-lifts while also diversifying production by working for third parties — for example, the company stated it is working with Testori Americas Corporation, which builds the internal parts of train carriages.
