Traffic on iboats.com increases in 2009
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — In January, iboats.com saw a 14-percent increase in traffic over the same month last year, the company reported in a recent release.
The site, which marks its 10th anniversary this month, noted that one growth area continues to be its user forums.
“To date we have over 142,000 registered members in our forums,” said Bruno Vassel III, co-founder and CEO of iboats.com.
During its 10 years of operation, iboats.com has served over one billion Web pages to tens of millions of individual boaters, according to the company. In 2004, it was named the 48th fastest revenue growing privately held company in America by Inc. 500 Magazine and has been recognized by Inc. each subsequent year, iboats reported.
Vassel said that despite the growth of sites like his, traditional brick-and-mortar dealers shouldn’t be concerned.
“Customers are clearly showing that they still prefer to visit a local dealer after researching on the Web to complete their purchase from the same retailer where they then plan to get future service work done,” he said.
The Salt Lake City-based iboats, inc., is a privately held corporation that provides new and used boat information to consumers.
