Defender reports a year of record sales

WATERFORD, Conn. – Defender Industries’ 2008 sales increased 11.3 percent over record 2007 levels, the marine outfitter and supplier reported in a statement yesterday. Eleven of the 12 months set new all time sales records.

“2008 was our 5th consecutive year of record sales, and the 7th year in a row of solid growth,” said Executive Director Al Knupp. “We’re very proud of the sustained success our team continues to achieve. Defender’s total sales have more than doubled in the last six years.”

“We’re very pleased with our results,” said Stephan Lance, Defender V.P. “Sales increased in 19 of our 20 product categories, while also improving margins. Our retention rates – both staff and customers – are at all time highs.”

Knupp added that the company is hiring additional staff, systems and inventory to support the growth in business and improve service.

“I’m confident 2009 will be another great year for Defender, our staff, and our customers,” Knupp concluded.
