More job cuts coming at Mercury Marine

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine has informed its employees that it will reduce its hourly work force in Fond du Lac, Wis., by approximately 160 positions in response to current marine market conditions, according to a story yesterday in the Fond du Lac Reporter.

The company expects to complete the reductions by the end of January, Dan Kubera, director of media relations and corporate communications for Brunswick Corporation, said in a press release.

Kubera said that in light of the decline in retail boat sales, Mercury is realigning its work force and reducing engine production levels to match demand. He declined to specify which plants or jobs were impacted by the layoffs, according to the story.

Mercury employs approximately 2,400 salaried and hourly individuals in Fond du Lac, Wis.
