Boats.com and NMMA now accepting Web award nominations

SEATTLE — Boats.com and the National Marine Manufacturers Association recently announced that they are accepting nominations for the 2009 North American Marine Industry Web Awards. The awards recognize excellence in marine industry Web site design and content.

According to the announcement, awards will be given in five categories, two of which are new in 2009. The first three categories, Best OEM/Manufacturer Site, Best Marine Equipment Site and Best Dealer/Broker Site, honor sites that demonstrate creativity in design, ease of navigation and up-to-date, relevant content.

The two new categories are “Best Marine Site — Editorial Content” and “Best Marine Site — Discover Boating.” The editorial award will honor a marine site that “engages, informs, promotes and compels action.” The Discover Boating award will go to a site that “embraces and supports the Discover Boating ethos.”

The judging panel for the 2009 awards is currently being assembled and will include one person nominated by Boats.com, one by NMMA and three additional Internet professionals with experience from outside the recreational marine industry.

To nominate a company or an individual, complete the online application on the new dedicated Web Awards Web site, boats.com/nawebawards/index.html. The deadline for applications is Jan. 15.
