Connecticut dealer launches yacht brokerage subsidiary

NIANTIC, Conn. – Boats Inc. is expanding its business to offer yacht brokerage services, it reported in a statement this morning. The newly formed subsidiary, Boats Yacht Brokerage, LLC, was established to offer clients a division that specializes in brokering powerboats starting at $200,000, according to the company. Boats Inc. has partnered with marine industry veteran Michael Kuzmuk in providing this service.

“What is unique about this partnership is that we will be offering a ‘Buyer’s Broker’ business model as well as the traditional ‘Seller’s Broker’,” said Brian Olson, president of Boats Inc. “We feel that there is a tremendous opportunity to assist the buyer with representation during the transaction. Most yacht brokers represent the seller and just want to get the boat sold, no matter what.”

Olson explained that there is no cost for the Buyer’s Broker service as the fee is paid by the seller. “Just like buying and selling real estate, the buyer’s interests needs to be represented,” he added.

Boats Yacht Brokerage, LLC will get to know the clients, discuss the right vessel for them, research what vessels are available for sale, pre-qualifying the vessels, and provide market analysis and financing. It can also handle the vessel surveying, documentation, insurance, transportation and vessel indoctrination, according to the company.
