Show producer adopts green initiatives

WARREN, R.I. – Producers of the International Marina and Boatyard Conference (IMBC), scheduled for Jan. 25-28 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will provide seminar handouts on USB ports this year in an effort to be more environmentally friendly, it reported in a statement this morning.

Each IMBC delegate will receive this when checking in at the registration at the conference, organizers explained. The USB port will be able to plug into personal laptop computers and a central computer station located in the convention center. USB ports will be loaded with all seminar presentations and handouts and 2010 conference information. A print station will also be made available for those delegates who would like hard copies of the handouts prior to attending the seminar, they added.

The International Marina and Boatyard Conference’s new exhibition management, Champion Exposition Services, will also contribute to the conference’s green initiatives by using recyclable materials for signs, purchasing carpet containing recycled materials, using organic carpet cleaning products, and providing exhibitor manuals on a CD and online, IMBC organizers stated.

The Fort Lauderdale Convention Center management have also contributed through the installation of energy efficient light bulbs and motion sensor lighting, using energy saving coefficient glass that reduces the energy needed to light and heat the building, installing water saving systems, and developing recycling programs, according to show producers.
