Optima partners with Land ‘N Sea

MIAMI – Optima Batteries, owned by Johnson Controls Inc., has entered into a unique partnership with Land ‘N Sea Distribution, according to an interview with Marine Brand Manager Josie Cline this morning.

The partnership, unveiled at the International BoatBuilders Exposition & Conference (IBEX) in Miami today, is the first time a marine distributor has agreed to carry a full battery line, said Cline.

She suggested that what sets Optima batteries, with their Spiralcell Technology, apart is that they aren’t considered to contain hazardous materials and therefore don’t require the same rigorous shipping and storage treatment as the wet, acid batteries traditionally used in the marine industry.

“As a distributor, you don’t have to have a special storage room for our batteries, and they are capable of being stored 18 to 24 months, so you can warehouse them,” she explained.

This means that Land ‘N Sea’s dealer customers across the United States and Canada can now receive marine batteries off the same truck from which they get their replacement parts and accessories, Cline added, whereas in the past, most marine distributors haven’t carried batteries. With the addition of its Optima group 27 BlueTop batteries, available in November, the company will be able to offer a full range of boat batteries for every size vessel.

Optima representatives will be in attendance at Land ‘N Sea’s three upcoming shows, educating attendees on its products, she said.

“While Optima marine batteries have been available for years, we completed our line and are making them more accessible through extensive distribution channels,” Cline concluded.
