IMI forms National Drystack Conference agenda
WARREN, R.I. – The International Marina Institute (IMI), a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), has created an agenda for its eighth National Drystack Conference being held Oct. 26-28 in West Palm Beach, Fla., it reported in a recent statement.
Topics will range from “What’s New in Forklifts?” to the “Financial Feasibility of Drystack Storage,” according to organizers. Conference host Tim Timpson, CMM, Marina Resource, LLC, will open the conference with a presentation on “New Drystack Developments,” which will cover southeast Florida and beyond. The conference will also offer attendees a look into emerging drystack technologies and designs presented by Vertical Yacht Storage Systems, Automated Marine Technologies, GCM Contracting, and Boat Storage Solutions, among others.
In addition, attendees will also be offered a glimpse into the actual operations of new drystack facilities through the eyes of some of IMI’s Certified Marina Managers (CMMs), who will present their firsthand experiences with drystack from the design/production stage to current operations. The conference concludes with a panel discussion allowing attendees to participate in a question and answer session and an opportunity to continue to network with their peers, organizers reported.
Scheduled immediately before the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the three-day National Drystack Conference dovetails into the “Southeast Florida Marina & Boatyard Study Tour,” a moving classroom that takes participants on tours of Southeast Florida marinas and boatyards just a few days ahead of the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, Oct. 29-30, according to IMI. Tour stops include several West Palm and Ft. Lauderdale marinas, such as Rybovich, Lauderdale Marine Center, Roscioli Yachting Center, Sunrise Harbor, Harbour Towne Marina, Riverbend and The Port Condominium, which features vertical yacht storage systems. Each day of the tour closes with a roundtable discussion led by tour host, Jim Bronstien, Marine Business Advisors. The tour concludes with a final stop in Fort Lauderdale for dinner before the participants head to the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with complimentary tickets. The tour fee includes 2-nights lodging at the West Palm Beach Marriott and daily, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tour transportation, IMI reported.
