Texas boat factory destroyed by fire

PORT O’CONNELL, Texas – The factory of Texas center console fishing boat builder Shoalwater Boats was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday night, according to an article published yesterday on VictoriaAdvocate.com.

The Port O-Connell-based company manufactured nine models of center fishing boats featuring tunnel hull design for extremely shallow water running, according to its Web site.

While firefighters from four fire departments worked for almost five hours to put out the fire, fire weakened the 5,000-sq.-ft. building’s steel beams and the roof caved in, the newspaper reported. No one was injured, and while a cause had yet to be determined, there were no suspicions of arson, according to officials.
