IBEX to offer evaporative emissions seminar
BROOKLIN, Maine – With the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s evaporative-emissions rule now final, IBEX 2008 will offer two opportunities to help attending boat builders gain critical knowledge and solutions specific to this issue, organizers reported in a recent statement.
To better understand the complex new regulation and assist boat builders with understanding the requirements, the Boat Fuel Systems: Design and Compliance (Session #309) seminar have been developed, organizers explained. It is scheduled for Tues., Oct. 7, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Featured speakers will include Michael Samulski (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency), John Adey (American Boat & Yacht Council) and John McKnight (National Marine Manufacturers Association).
“EPA’s evaporative emissions requirements will result in significant changes to a boat’s fuel system,” said McKnight. “This challenge also creates opportunity for boat builders to now consider reengineering their fuel system or possible consolidation of fuel system components for similar models. The program we are offering at IBEX 2008 is one of the first steps in the EPA mandated industry-wide challenge to design cleaner more advanced boat fuel systems.”
In addition, to assist boat builders in identifying some of the new products and technologies that are available to meet these regulations, the IBEX 2008 exhibit halls will offer an Evaporative Emissions Solutions Route, organizers stated. More than 20 exhibitors that manufacturer products that provide solutions to meet the new EPA requirements have qualified to be included on the “Evaporative Emissions Solutions Route.” Floor stickers through out the exhibit hall will identify the participating exhibitors. A list of Evaporative Emission Solution Route exhibitors and their booth numbers will be listed in the IBEX Booth Guide available at all show entrances.
