NMMA testifies regarding sanctuary bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Vice President of Government Relations Scott B. Gudes testified before the House Subcommittee on Fisheries, Wildlife and Oceans on H.R. 6537, the Sanctuary Enhancement Act of 2008 yesterday, the association reported in a statement.

The bill would reauthorize and amend the National Marine Sanctuaries Act and establish a National Marine Sanctuary System. The National Marine Sanctuaries Act was originally created to conserve marine environments of special national significance, NMMA explained.

As the sole representative of the recreational boating industry, Gudes testified on how best to balance resource protection while safeguarding the water access rights of American boaters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
