West Marine launches new services division

WATSONVILLE, Calif. – West Marine, Inc. has launched its Professional Captain’s Services Division, which is dedicated to supplying yachts and megayachts throughout the world, the company reported in a release this week.

Thomas “Charlie” Petosa, a former West Marine regional vice president who spent the past two years as a special consultant in the megayacht industry, will manage the division.

“We are excited to welcome Charlie back on board in his new role as general manager, Professional Captain’s Services for West Marine,” said Geoff Eisenberg, CEO, West Marine. “Charlie shares our passion for the business and has a unique understanding of yachting and the remarkable owners, skippers and crew that cruise the world.”

The Professional Captain’s Services team will be based in West Marine’s Fort Lauderdale superstore. The tri-county waters in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach are home to roughly 1,500 of the world’s growing fleet of more than 3,800 megayachts greater than 24 meters, making Fort Lauderdale an ideal location to supply both the domestic and international market, the company said.

“We have tremendous confidence in the staff and leadership of our new Professional Captain’s Services division, designed to meet the needs of a high growth segment of the marine industry,” said Christopher Bolling, senior vice president Business Development, West Marine. “This stellar team of Associates is ready to assist and equip the international yacht and megayacht community.”
