COMITT at IBEX seeks speakers, seminar topics

ANNAPOLIS, Md.; BROOKLIN, Maine; and CHICAGO – Organizers of the Conference On Marine Industry Technical Training are seeking proposals for seminars and nominations for speakers for this fall’s COMITT at IBEX.

Attendees at the third COMITT – held this past February in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – pinpointed several key areas for continued study and discussion within the marine industry including maximizing the availability of new workers, enhancing the competence of incumbent workers and retaining good employees.

“COMITT at IBEX will provide an opportunity to continue the momentum started in February, and we are now seeking proposals for seminars to address these three issues,” said Barbara Jean Walsh, COMITT planning committee chairwoman. “If you would like to nominate a speaker, or yourself, please send an email to comitt2008@gmail.com and let us know as soon as possible what you have in mind.”

COMITT at IBEX will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 5. Along with seminars and workshops, the daylong IBEX pre-conference will also include updates on MITEC activities, a luncheon with a keynote speaker, and an afternoon session on team building, led by David Veech from the Institute for Lean Systems.

The cost of attending COMITT at IBEX is $85 and includes admission to the exhibition hall, which opens at 10 a.m. Oct. 6.
