RIBEX 2008 wraps up
ISLE OF WIGHT, United Kingdom – RIBEX 2008 drew more than 5,000 people to Cowes on the Isle of Wight, organizers said in a press release Wednesday. The powerboat show is dedicated entirely to the rigid inflatable boat market.
More than 60 RIBs were being exhibited within the event marina itself and all were available for sea trials. At least 12 of the models were making their world debut. These included the 13m Austech RIB and Avon’s 8.50 Adventure.
At one point, the boats were becoming so full with people that organizers were at the point of restricting access to the marina to limit the number of people boarding the vessels on display.
Chandlery, specialist equipment, clothing, helmets, marine cameras, electronics of every sort and a selection of special starter boat/entry-level RIB exhibits made for a packed tented RIBEX village.
According to the exhibitor testimonials (soon to be streamed on RIB TV via www.ribmagazine.com), the degree of sales and business done at RIBEX 2008 was successful. Exhibitors decided to keep the show in Cowes as a permanent 2nd weekend in May fixture for all forthcoming years. Next year’s show dates will be May 8-10.
