FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Taiwanese-based yacht manufacturer Ocean Alexander will relocate its Fort Lauderdale dealership to Stuart, Fla., June 1, the company reported in a release yesterday.
The company’s new Florida sales headquarters will encompass 6,500 square feet of office space and have at least 18 marina slips to showcase its yachts side by side. Ocean Alexander said one of the reasons it made the decision to relocate was the availability of dockage for showing its full inventory in one place.
“The yachting industry seems to be moving northward up the coast of Florida, especially over the past 30 years,” said Cindy Ross, Ocean Alexander general manager. “Miami Beach was once the yachting capital of Florida. Fifteen years ago it was Fort Lauderdale. We’re excited that Stuart can now offer us spacious offices on the water, plenty of marina space and top-notch shipyards.”
Another benefit to relocating its Florida headquarters to Stuart is the company’s relationship with Hinckley Shipyards.
“We’ll be only five miles away from them in Stuart,” Ross said. “We’ve fostered this relationship because Hinckley is one of the most respected yards in the U.S., and we feel they provide the level of service our customers expect and deserve. We’re expanding our relationship with Hinckley from Florida to Maine.”
The company also cites increased boat sales north of Fort Lauderdale as a factor in the move.
With factories in Taiwan and China, Ocean Alexander’s combined yacht-building facilities make it among the largest in Asia. Its design partnership with Ed Monk and a team of engineering experts has produced vessels up to 100 feet.
