Newport show adds consignment tent

NEWPORT, R.I. – The 34th Annual Newport Spring Boat Show has added a consignment tent this year, organizers of the show, which runs May 16 – 18 at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport, R.I., reported in a recent release.

“We’d like our exhibitors as well as the general public to have a chance to sell marine related items that would otherwise go unused,” said Nancy Piffard, show director. “We are asking them to clean out their garages and storage sheds, bring their used marine equipment in good working condition, put a price on it and drop it off at the Newport Yachting Center. It’s better than a yard sale, plus it will help a wonderful organization…the Seaman’s Church Institute. If the consignment item sells, the owner will then receive 60 percent of the sale and partial proceeds will go to the Seaman’s Church Institute.”
