Economy prompts MDRA to add keynote speaker

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Calling the economic concerns facing the U.S. boating industry “unprecedented,” Marine Design Resource Alliance officials say they have added even more relevance to the organization’s April Creative Conference with the addition of economist Anika Khan of Wachovia Bank.

Khan will open the creative conference April 21 at The Cloister, Sea Island, Ga., MDRA said in a recent release.

“There has been an overwhelming response from CEOs of leading marine manufacturers planning to attend, who are looking for insights into the current economic climate and how to affect their boat sales,” said Peter Granata, Alliance president, who reports this year’s conference has booked out quickly. “The relaxed conference atmosphere provides a unique setting for brainstorming among the best minds in the industry.”

In addition to Khan, Dr. Barry Asmus, a senior economist for the National Center for Policy Analysis, will present a picture of America’s future, both in the U.S. and abroad, during the Monday session. Daniel Burrus, author of “Technotrends,” will be the keynote speaker for the Creative Conference’s second day.

The conference, to be held April 20-22, 2008, is by invitation only to CEOs, their spouses and MDRA members, and includes speakers and sessions, receptions, dinners and an afternoon of golf.

Additional information about membership is available by contacting Wayne Mapes (847) 639-2465 and at MDRA.biz on the Internet.
