Abu Dhabi show attracting U.S. companies

DORSET, U.K. – Following the U.S. launch of the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show 2009 in Miami, Feb. 15, three American companies – Burger Boat Co., Trinity Yachts and Westport Shipyard – have signed up to take booths at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show and negotiations with “many others” are ongoing and likely to be secured in the coming weeks, organizers reported in a release yesterday.

Several companies are also in discussion regarding sponsorship of the megayacht event – to be held March 24 – 27, 2009 – and run by the Informa Yacht Group, which owns and operates the Monaco Yacht Show.

“We are solely targeting vetted, wealthy visitors who are acknowledged as being in the market for yachts upwards of $15 million,” said Franck Dailles, group director of Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, at the U.S. launch. “They will come from Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates, neighboring Gulf States as well as the key emerging markets of India and Russia. Buyers such as these will offer opportunities beyond comparison for any company operating within the megayacht market.”

Exhibitors will have access to the wealthiest of buyers as the first day of the event, March 24, is exclusively for members of Middle Eastern royalty.

“Having met and spoken with dozens of U.S. companies at Miami it is clear that they recognize the immense spending power of the inhabitants of the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region,” Dailles said. “Our decision to make it an exclusive event will allow exhibitors to dedicate their time and resources to genuine purchasers rather than be distracted by those simply visiting.”
