Zodiac doubles sales at Miami Boat Show

STEVENSVILLE, Md. – Zodiac of North America experienced what it called “a remarkable spike in sales” at the 2008 Miami International Boat Show compared to last year’s show, it reported in a press release this week.

The company said its rigid inflatable boat sales during the event were “substantially more than twice last year’s sales.”

“The message about the benefits of RIBs is resonating as never before with American boaters, and it’s translating into big sales gains,” said JJ. Marie, president and CEO of ZNA. “This should also serve as a clear message for traditional boat dealers that now’s the time to get into the business of selling RIBs.”

All-new Zodiac and AVON jet RIB models were especially popular at the show, as well as newer models in the Zodiac Yachtline series of RIBs and the larger Zodiac Pro series of RIBs, which go up to 28 feet in length, the company said.

“It’s particularly exciting to see this sales activity in the midst of such a tough business cycle in the marine industry,” said Howard French, vice president and general manager, Recreational Sector for ZNA. “The RIB market is finally coming into its own in the U.S., and as the market leader in this segment, we’re delighted.”
